HIGHWAY TO HOLY SHIT DEPT. :
Pat Robertson's Still Not Dead?!?

It still blows my mind that Pat Robertson can't find enough preacher stuff to keep busy.

While millions of the world's people - including many Christians - go to bed hungry each night or suffer from numerous forms of plague and pestilence, the Virginia Beach, Va., based televangelist continues to play God's armchair quarterback.

As if calling for the outright murder of Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez last year wasn't appaling enough, Robertson has gone one step further in declaring Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's life-threatening stroke part of God's wrath.

From the Associated Press (via Jerusalem Post):

..."He was dividing God's land and I would say woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU, the United Nations, or the United States of America," Robertson said on his television program, "The 700 Club," broadcast from his Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach. "God says 'this land belongs to me. You better leave it alone.' "...

In the same broadcast, Robertson also calls Sharon a
"a very tender-hearted man and a good friend."

Wow.

I'd hate to know what the occassional preacher/presidential candidate has to say about his enemies.

Of course, from a man who has reportedly formed friendships with just about every despot in Africa (including Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, former Zairian strongman Mobuto Sese Seko, and recently deposed Liberian dicator Charles Taylor) to secure mining rights for his African Development Company, I'm sure Robertson meant well.

Sure....yeah.

A previous ZenFo Pro rant on Robertson is found here
.

The Zenformation Professional wishes Mr. Sharon well. Even though I may disagree with the former military commander's views and policies, Sharon is, like everyone else, a human being.

In a world full of religious fanatics like Robertson, I figure that's the least I can do.

Its amazing what life can do to a person. How much life's experience's can change one's opinions on things. At one point I used to think very highly of people like them. (Pat Robertson that is.) I guess I am not really putting him down, but have you ever noticed the gold trim and all the expensive decorations on the tv broadcasting? What is the need for that? I see all these commercials and drives for people in need, but how do people that really are in need get them? I was on the brink of loosing my job and we walked into a safeway there was a Care and Share benefit going on... like a Karokee thing. It was neat, but I just cried. Here we are in need and no one knows... anyways... that has been worked out. My boss called me and that has been worked out... but I had a real priority check. Some of the focuses we tend to get caught up on ... how important in the scheme of time... are they really? Just random thought from a random smurf. ;P

lol, I guess I should read a little more carefully before I comment, I reread again... Israel is supposed to be according to the JEWISH religion (and the Christian religion since it is stemmed from the Jewish religion)a land that God set a part for the Jewish people... I am not in the news enough to know if this is what was being referred to or not... but it is what it sounds like... I am not stating an opinion on it... just facts based on religious text.

God's wrath will one day fall upon all the world's whoremongers and those who seek to divide israel. it is written in scriptures. biblical authority is unquestionable.

Hey, long time no hear! Glad to hear things are looking up a bit. Yeah, there's that segment of the American public, led by guys like Robertson, who tie the aquisition of wealth/capitalism to Christian doctrines. Somehow, the whole shabang has been lumped into the simultaneous worship of God and the Golden Calf.

Jesus Freak:
Biblical authority, like all authority, is questionable and should be questioned regularly. WhileChristian Fundamentalists tend to try to discredit nonbiblical-based theology summarily, the vast majority of Christian history is based on the writings of so many other people outside of the Scriptures. Even the belief that Bible is the sole authority on God/Jesus things comes more from the Reformation Protestant movements than from the ancient writings.

I'll go ahead and second that emotion ;)
