Cat People? You Don't Believe in Cat People, Do You?

Caught Cat People (RKO, 1944) on cable last night. Forgot how suave and dark this film - and producer Val 's body of work - really is. Must add to my favorites list. The cinematography is stellar given the fact that the film was shot on such a low budget.

Awesome noir horror flick. A tale about a cursed woman who can't get aroused, else she turns into a raging wild animal and goes on the prowl for blood.

I've always loved the work of RKO poster illustrator - the artist responsible for so many amazing noir, suspense and horror posters at that studio. He was also W.R. Hearst's big illustrator.

Check out some of Rose's work here. He's also the guy responsible for the posters for .

I love the Citizen Kane Poster, this is pretty awesome. I have never seen the movie though.

You haven't seen Citizen Kane yet?!? Okay, I know you have midterms. When those are done, here's how the savvy girl-about-town watches CK for the first time.

- Find a couch near a TV.
- Sweats appropriate attire.
- Plop down on said couch.
- Play DVD recording of Citizen Kane.
- Prepare yourself for the greatest cinematic masterpiece of all time. Orson Welles will blow your mind.
- Try not to make comparisions to current flicks - they all get slammed with bomb label when compared to the greatest English-language movie of all time.

Much love,

The Nastassja Kinski version of Cat People (1982) isn't as atmospheric, or as mentally intense, but it's all right in its own sense, too.

That being that Nastassja Kinski is the star ... [*grwl*]

A woman who can't get aroused? That is a horror flick!

Jason - you are right about the appropriate movie attire. Sweats are the most functional.

I have never seen Citizen Kane...yes shame on me! I will very soon so I can relate and create a more enlightened response.

Kinski...agreed, on both counts...wink, wink, nudge nudge ;)

No problem. My bad. That's what I get for trying to think at 7 in the morning :P

Leigh:
Oh yeah...legend has it, RKO was actually worried the fundamentalists would protest it...
