How to Make Leonard Cohen's Red Needle without Really Trying

The "Traditional" Leonard Cohen Red Needle:
  • 2 oz. tequila
  • A slice lemon (or other exotic fruit)
  • Cranberry Juice
In a highball glass, add crushed ice. Then add app. 2 oz. of Tequila and fill with cranberry juice. Mix gently. Garnish with lemon or other "exotic fruits." Another variation, which I've heard referred to as a "Fresh Needle," adds kiwi juice to the cranberry.

The Zenformation Professional Red Needle:

  • 2 oz Don Julio Silver or Sauza Blanco (for the budget boozer)
  • Unsweetened Cranberry Juice
  • 1 tsp. pure cane sugar
  • Lemon and lime slices

Combine, shake, and pour over crushed ice. Garnish with lemon and lime.

I just love spam comments! Do you think viagra would go well with a red needle? :-)

Yeah, it's a great combination. If a dude has too many Red Needlers, he will have substantially reduced his capacity to perform for his lady. That's where the Viagra kicks in - a nice counter to the wienie-limpening effects of excessive boozing.

Tried a few of your Red Needles recipe tonight....omg! A bottle of Don Julio was like 60 bucks!!! Definitely not a cheap drink, but very tasty and, LOL, Aimee, the friggin' barbie doll roomie, pointed out that the unsweetened cranberry juice fit into her Adkins diet...LOL...thought she still thinks LC is the guy who played spock in Star Trek.
